S5 EP3: The School That Humbled Me - This Is ADMI ft Ritchy Mistri
Ritchy Mistri recalls his years at Nauru Elite as a kind of boot camp. The teachers were strict, even naming their canes “Black Mamba” and other fearsome titles. Life in Nyahururu was defined by cold mornings, boiling water in buckets just to wash, and strict routines that demanded order and discipline. Coming from St. Andrews, where he had been carefree and looked after, the culture shock was real. At Nauru he had to take responsibility for himself, keeping cubicles spotless, following rules, enduring inspections, and learning to survive the cold and harsh conditions. The experience humbled him, gave him structure, and taught him resilience. Even though it was tough, with sickness, rules he did not like, and moments of wanting to quit, he says it grounded him and made him strong willed. Along the way, certain teachers like Mr. Kamanu and Mr. Gau pushed him hard but also mentored him, shaping how he thought about responsibility and respect. By the time he left, he knew both worlds, the privileged and the tough, and understood why Nauru Elite had been his grounding place. Watch, learn, and get inspired. This is not just school. This is ADMI.
